How Can Being Online Benefit Me?

If you're still not sure about whether it's the right time to get on the net, I'm here to help. As technology progresses all the time, it can be a little overwhelming, and sometimes hard to determine whether something new will be something that stays or not. It doesn't make sense to waste your time on a fad, so maybe you're wondering if you should even bother. Take a look at the (very well-researched) video below. It's well worth the four minutes:

Some key points to notice from this video is how much traditional advertising (television, print media, radio) is losing out as new waves appear. I'm not saying that you have to immediately abandon your morning newspaper to read it online. However, it is important to know what trends are going on around you. I do believe that printed newspapers will hardly exist in a few years. It is much easier for people to access them online (and a lot less wasteful). I like to read the BBC news online, and since I live in the United States it would be pretty impractical for me to try and get an actual paper of it delivered to my doorstep every day. I can also access newspapers in other languages, or newspapers about very specific topics. If you're trying to write for a niche market, you might not be able to afford to send physical copies to everyone, but posting it online for subscribers can be a great option.

So, if you are someone who offers a service to the public, the internet is a vast resource that is at your disposal. Regardless of what industry you are in, having a website for your business, or having information about your services available online can be crucial to finding new customers. It can take some creativity to figure out how best to market yourself online, but once you do, you'll start seeing the benefits quickly.
